TRUF. Especially 2. Although I agree with Cher— these past few weeks have been no low at all.

Woof. So true. Especially, #2. Not so much #1, but mainly because I wasn’t really relying on someone to get me an “in” and my connections have actually been super helpful. It’s too early to say anything about #3, but I think I had a healthy understanding that moving is hard and this city was never meant to be “easy.” And yes, #4 is so true it’s sad. I’m supposed to dress in a style that is “cool, hip, and reflects the Brooklyn lifestyle.” Ummm, this is the girl who almost bought a jacket in the kids section of Target.

“by 19, i had found my look. oversize t-shirts, bike shorts, and wrestling shoes. to prevent the silhouette from being too baggy, i would cinch it at the waist with my fanny pack. i was pretty sure i would wear this look forever. the shirts allowed me express myself with cool sayings like ‘there’s no crying in baseball’ and ‘universität heidelberg,’ the bike shorts showed off my muscular legs, and the fanny pack held all my trolley tokens. i was nailing it on a daily basis. find something like this for yourself as soon as possible.”
